The Nagarkot to Changu Narayan Day Hike is Kathmandu's most popular day excursion, harmoniously combining alpine sunrise views with ancient culture. Watch the dawn sun light up the snow-capped Himalayan crest from Nagarkot (2,175m) spanning from Annapurna to Everest. Embark on a gentle 4-hour downhill ridge walk through pine forests and Tamang farmlands to Changu Narayan, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the oldest known Hindu temple in Nepal.

4:30 AM early morning drive from Kathmandu to Nagarkot (1.5 hrs). Witness the golden sunrise over the Himalayas from the viewpoint. Enjoy breakfast at a ridge restaurant. At 8:30 AM, begin a pleasant 12km downhill walk along the forested ridge through Telkot and Tamang farming villages. Arrive at Changu Narayan at 12:30 PM. Tour the 5th-century pagoda temple and stone sculptures. Drive back to Kathmandu by 3:00 PM.
